I’ve lost count how many times I did a redesign to this website of mine. One thing for sure is that the more redesign I do, the less of a ‘design’ it has become. Here you see me obsessed in minimalistic white-space heavy design. Less is not just more, less is better. Sort of.

These few days, Malaysian cat lovers, Kitteh defenders alike were up in arms over what had happened to over 200 pet felines that were supposed to be under the care of Petknode, a company that offers cat boarding services. These are pet cats and not stray cats.

Can’t believe I wrote about Rebecca Black on Jiboneus.com and that I listened to all those video embedded on the post.

I don’t really talk much. Mainly because I am a quite person. Just ask anybody close to me, he or she will either say, “yeah he don’t talk much.” or “yeah he is a quite person”. Here are a few reason why I don’t talk much.

Every Malaysian citizen has the democratic right under the Malaysian Federal Constitution to hold peaceful demonstration. That is what they say. Every Malaysian citizen also has the rights to freedom of movement. No one can stop a law abiding citizen to go from one place to another.

The Malaysian Prime Minister sends the Malaysian people, well a portion of the Malaysian people a Chinese New Year greetings via email, and all of the sudden folks are all up in arms on the fact that the Prime Minister spams their inbox.

“How did the Prime Minister get my email? This is spam! I will not put up with it. This is a Privacy Violation!”

Apparently we can put up with emails of people selling viagra, penis enlargement program, Nigerian prince needing some help in transferring some amount of money but not an email from the Prime Minister Office?

While the U.S. toys with the idea of an Internet kill switch, Egypt on the other hand proof that it is in fact possible. The entire country was disconnected from the Internet during the recent 25th January civil unrest. Looking at the graph, network traffic drops entirely in a coordinated manner. It is as if somebody literally cuts the cable connecting Egypt to the rest of the world.

Egypt has four companies as it’s major Internet Service Provider (ISP), which are Link Egypt, Vodafone/Raya, Telecom Egypt and Etisalat Misr. Apparently all these four ISPs shuts down it’s services at precisely the same time causing an Internet blackout for the entire country. Not packets coming out and not packets coming in.

However it was reported that not all ISP were shut down, apparently a smaller provider, Noor Group still operational, but these company offers a limited service. Well it runs the Egyptian Stock Exchange. You can’t tweet, but you can still tread stocks.

Lucky for us Malaysian, we don’t have to worry about such scenario happening here. It is most unlikely that our ruling government could or has the capabilities to shut down Malaysia’s Internet entirely.
